TYPICAL PROBLEMS ABOUT INTERIOR PAINT

The paint film is wrinkled

Phenomenon: The paint film surface is dry, wrinkled, grainy, does not create a continuous surface.

Reason:
– Applying too heavy paint, especially for Alkyd or oil-based paints)
– Construction in hot or too cold weather causes the coating outside to dry too quickly compared to the inner layer.
– Due to the high humidity in the air, it affects the drying process of paint film.
– Do not comply with the time the paint layer is removed, the inside layer is not dry already painted outside layer.
– Paint on the surface of impurities.

Solution: Remove the paint, clean the surface. When using primer, allow this layer to dry completely before applying the coating (avoid painting in extremely high temperature and humidity conditions).

The paint film is cracked

Phenomenon: There are cracks on the paint film surface.

Reason:
– Use paint with low adhesion and durability.
– Paint is too thin or too thick
– No good surface treatment, or non-primed wood surface.
– Use Alkyd paint that is too hard or too brittle.

Solution: Use an effervescent brush and a high-iron brush to remove all paint, sanding surfaces and corners. For wood, use primer before recoating. Use high quality paint.

The paint film is rough

Phenomenon: The paint film is not smooth and flat due to the foam particles and holes caused by the foam.

Reason:
– Stir the paint bucket evenly.
– Use low quality paint.
– Roll the paint too fast
– Incorrect use of the roller (incorrect yarn length).
– Rolling excess paint.
– Paint has a high gloss on the rough surface.

Solution: All paints during the construction will foam, but the paint quality, when the surface is still wet, the foam has broken, giving the paint film a good flow. Avoid over-rolling or over-use paint. Using a semi-gloss or semi-gloss paint with a short-fiber roller, roll primer over a rough surface before painting. Sand the rough surface before rolling repainted.

The paint film is mossy

Phenomenon: the paint film is green or brown, black spots.

Reason:
– Occurs in places with favorable conditions for the development of moss: moist, warm (bathroom, kitchen, washing room) …
– Due to the use of Alkyd paint or oil-based paint or water-based paint of low quality.
– For wood surface: the primer does not meet the quality before painting.
– Paint on the surface of moss that has not been carefully treated.

Solution:
Check by using 1 drop of bleach on the mossy area (blob), if the spots are faded. Scrub the entire surface to remove mold and mildew with a bleach solution. When using this solution, wear rubber gloves and eye protection. Use high quality water paint. These paints have more anti-moss properties than low quality paints. Clean the surface with a cleaning solution if necessary. Install a fan in a place with high humidity.

The film is saponified

Phenomenon: The concentration of active substances on the surface of water paint in places with high humidity. It has a light brown stain and sometimes looks like soap or sticky mucus.

Reason: All water paints suffer from this phenomenon when painting in places with high humidity, especially in the ceiling.

Solution: Use soap to wash the problem area and when painting the bathroom, let the paint film dry completely before using water. Remove all stains before repainting.

The paint film is contaminated

Phenomenon: The paint film is damaged by absorbent dirt.

Reason: Use low-quality paint or paint on non-primed surfaces.

Solution: Using high-quality water paint, this paint has a high content of film-making substances, dirt is difficult to penetrate into the paint film, facilitating easy cleaning. It is recommended to use primer to create paint film with maximum thickness to prevent contamination
